Youth Opportunities

Read to a Shelter Pet

Animals at ACS thrive on human connection. Interacting with a pet while practicing your reading skills is a great opportunity to help get youth involved in animal welfare! ACS offers a program where when accompanied by an adult, youth can come into the shelter (in groups of 3 or less) to read to a shelter pet for 30 minutes. Our pets will enjoy this one-on-one time and comfort provided! To learn more about this program, contact our Volunteer & Community Outreach Manager.

Scout Programs

Animal Care Society proudly welcomes scout groups of all ages to become involved! ACS offers a wide variety of engaging opportunities to help bring awareness to animal welfare and learn more about responsible pet ownership. Program lengths can go from 30-60 minutes and will include a humane education course, one on one time with a shelter pet, behind-the scene tours of the shelter and an animal-based activity. As if that isn’t enough, each member of your scout group will receive a patch by participating in these courses!

Courses are adjusted for the age of the group. We also offer opportunities for completion of Eagle Scout projects.
