We may apply a legacy fee (higher adoption fee) to specific, highly adoptable purebred/designer breed animals, aiming to secure funds for the care of other animals with special needs or those facing challenges in finding suitable homes, ultimately supporting the shelter’s mission to provide comprehensive care for all animals in need.
What is Included With Adoption?
All animals come spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested or combo tested, and up to date on age appropriate vaccinations.
Adopters will be sent home with a transitional bag of food.
Adopters will receive a complimentary one-month supply of oral/topical parasite preventative tailored to the specific type of animal they are adopting.
Adopters are also given the opportunity at the time of adoption to purchase a larger supply of preventative at an affordable rate to ensure their new pet is healthy and parasite free!
If adopting a dog, adopters can enroll their newly adopted dog in our training and behavioral classes at a discounted rate.
What is Required to Adopt?
All members of the household must meet the animal prior to adoption.
If adopting a dog, any current dogs in the home must participate in a meet-and-greet to ensure a safe and appropriate match.
A current veterinary reference is required for any pets currently or previously owned.
We offer a 24-hour hold for $40 after an applicant has met the animal. This gives you time to prepare your home and make arrangements before welcoming your new pet.
We do offer a foster to adopt option that is 3 weeks long for any animal that has been in our care longer than 30 days.
Please Note!
All adoption applications are reviewed carefully to ensure the best possible fit for both the animal and the adopter. Animal Care Society (ACS) reserves the right to approve or deny any application at its sole discretion.
